The HAVERFORD HEAT is the American Legion Baseball Program of Haverford Township providing competitive travel team play for baseball players ages 13 to 19. Founded in 1925, American Legion Baseball is the most established youth baseball program in the country. Thousands of current and former major league players came through the American Legion Baseball system, far more than through any other organization.
The HAVERFORD HEAT offers five travel team programs for the upcoming Spring/Summer baseball season.
Prep Division (13 Year-olds)
The Preps are part of the Del-Mont Prep League and play against teams from both Delaware and Montgomery counties. There is a State Championship played each season. Pat McCormick is the coach.
Sandlot Division (14 Year-olds)
The Sandlots are in their second year and currently play within a single league against teams from Delaware, Montgomery, and Chester counties. They are coached by Mike Kravec and assisted by Geoff O’Brien.
Junior American Legion (14 and 15 year-olds)
The Juniors compete in the Main Line Legion League against Roxborough, Wayne, Narberth, Aston, Glenolden, Springfield, and Nether Providence. The Junior Legion team will be coached by Joe Sardella, assisted by Bob Kane, Jim Barr, and Drew Dwyer.
Cadet Division (16 year olds)
This is the third year for this 16 year old single division. The team will compete against teams from Delaware, Montgomery, and Chester counties. The Cadet Divison is a step up for the 16 year olds, helping them to prepare for Senior Legion. The Heat will be coached by Gerry Hart, assisted by Paul Koether and Dave Pokorney.
Senior American Legion (16 -19 Year Olds)
This 16 to 19 year-old team competes in the Main Line Legion League against Narberth, Springfield, Norwood, Wayne, and Clifton. The Senior team is lead by Coach Joe Innes. The Senior Legion program crowns a National Champion each year.
Each of our teams can roster up to eighteen (18) players as limited under the rules of American Legion Baseball.
