The HAVERFORD HEAT is the American Legion Baseball Program of Haverford Township providing competitive travel team play for baseball players ages 13 to 19. Founded in 1925, American Legion Baseball is the most established youth baseball program in the country. Thousands of current and former major league players came through the American Legion Baseball system, far more than through any other organization.
The HAVERFORD HEAT offers four travel team programs for the upcoming Spring/Summer baseball season.
Prep Program (13 Year-olds) We have joined the SEPA (Southeastern Pennsylvania) Prep Legion League. Glenn Ross, a long time coach of youth baseball in Haverford Township will manage the prep team with the assistance of Bernie Smith and Rich Clemick
Junior American Legion (14 and 15 year-olds) The Juniors compete in the Main Line League against Roxborough, Wayne, Narberth, Aston, Glenolden, Springfield, and Nether Providence. The Junior Legion team will be coached by Gerry Hart.
Cadet Division (16 year olds) This is the first year that a 16 year old division is playing in this area and Haverford Heat is entering a team. This Cadet Divison is for 16 year olds to prepare for the Senior Legion. Cadet. The Heat welcomes long time youth baseball coach Steve Ianetta who will coach the Preps this year.
Senior American Legion (16 -19 Year Olds) This 16 to 19 year-old team competes in the Main Line League against Narberth, Springfield, Norwood, Wayne, and Clifton. The Senior team is lead by Coach Joe Innes who is in his ninth year with the Heat.
Each of our teams can roster up to eighteen (18) players as limited under the rules of American Legion Baseball.
